Dimebags approached me via Instagram to collaborate on one of their popular monthly sticker designs. As much of my personal work focuses on mental health awareness, they thought I would be a good fit for their monthly sticker benefiting Suicide Prevention Month. Dimebags wanted to use the phrase "Be Kind to your Mind" and include an element inspired by the brain. We worked together to create a sticker design they were ultimately really pleased with!
I always start a project by doing some free sketching to start to map out my initial ideas. It helps to have a space where I can mess around with ideas while getting inspiration from the world around me.
I narrowed my sketch explorations down to three main ideas and sketched them out digitally to give the client an idea of where the design could go. This process allows me to show my client a wider variety of possible directions in a lower fidelity format before committing to the final design. This saves time on my end and ultimately for the client, because I'm able to turn around sketches like this a lot more quickly than a finished design.
After finalizing the lettering and illustration for the chosen design, I presented Dimebags with color options to choose from. They ended up choosing the middle option, which happened to be my favorite as well!
I was really pleased with how these stickers came out. The messaging is close to my heart, and the freedom to illustrate and hand letter the design made for a dynamic result combined with a bold color palette. Dimebags was kind enough to supply me with a set of stickers, and they're high quality, gorgeous stickers that I'm excited to share with my friends and colleagues.
